Dominick Barlow

Dominick Barlow, born on May 26, 2003, is a professional basketball player hailing from the United States of America. He presently brings his talent to the courts for the Atlanta Hawks in the renowned National Basketball League (NBA). He also holds a two-way contract with the College Park Skyhawks, a prominent team in the NBA G League.

Barlow’s journey on the basketball court commenced during his freshman year at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia. Although his playtime was stringently limited, the experience led him to the courts of Dumont High School in his hometown, Dumont, New Jersey. Switching schools only after his freshman year, he soon made a significant impact.

During his junior season, Barlow began to establish his potential as an elite player when he took on a leadership role and delivered impressive season averages of 23.3 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. However, his final high school season was cut short due to the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic, which restricted him to only eight games.

Despite the pandemic’s challenges, Barlow made the most of those eight games, averaging phenomenal scores of 27.6 points, 17 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game. This remarkable performance elevated his status to North Jersey Player of the Year.

Beyond high school, Barlow showcased his skills as part of the New York Rens team in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. His contributions to the team were instrumental in helping the Rens reach the Peach Jam semifinals. As a four-star recruit, Barlow then aimed to embark on a postgraduate season at Bridgton Academy in Bridgton, Maine but decided to explore professional opportunities before that.

On September 2, 2021, Barlow turned professional when he signed with Team Overtime to play in Overtime Elite’s pioneering season. His performance was steady as he averaged 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game throughout the inaugural season.

Barlow’s professional journey took a formal turn in the 2022 NBA draft. Although he went undrafted, the San Antonio Spurs signed him on a two-way contract, making him the first player from Overtime Elite to officially join an NBA roster.

The subsequent summer, Barlow secured a spot on the Spurs’ 2022 NBA Summer League roster. His league debut was on July 8, 2022, against the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he scored nine points and seven rebounds in a 90-99 loss.

Barlow had his first taste of NBA action with the Spurs on November 2, 2022, contributing two points and three assists to a game against the Toronto Raptors. Despite losing the match, it marked a significant milestone in his career.

In his foray into the NBA G League, Barlow delivered a career-high performance on January 28, 2023, scoring 32 points with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks for Austin in a game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. This impressive feat was soon followed by his first NBA double-double, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds in an overtime win against the Sacramento Kings on April 2, 2023.

With consistent performances, on July 27, 2023, the Spurs reaffirmed their confidence in Barlow and signed him for another two-way contract for the subsequent NBA season. After successful stints, he signed a standard NBA contract on March 2, 2024.
