Born on June 7, 1993, Danuel Kennedy House Jr. hails from the vibrant city of Houston, Texas. Raised in the historic Fourth Ward, House found his passion for basketball early on and quickly made a name for himself. He attended Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas, where he thrived as a star player, earning All-District 23-5A First-Team honors as a junior.

Continually improving his skills on the court, House averaged 26.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.5 steals per game as a senior. His exceptional performance contributed significantly to the Hightower Hurricanes’ impressive overall record of 29–9 and a place in the Regional championship game.

Recognizing his tremendous talent, the national media ranked House 15th in the 2012 class by ESPNU 100 and 26th overall by Scout.com. He was also one of 10 finalists for the Guy V. Lewis Award, a prestigious recognition given to the best player in the Greater Houston area.

House began his collegiate career at the University of Houston, where his skills blossomed as he became a significant contributor for the Houston Cougars. As a freshman, he averaged 12.4 points per game while competing in 33 games with 27 starts. Praised for his efforts, House earned the honor of being named the C-USA Freshman of the Year and was the first in school history to achieve this award.

In his sophomore year, House led the Cougars in both scoring and rebounds, averaging 19.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. His performances were instrumental in propelling the team to the conference semifinals. Over his two seasons at Houston, House showcased an impressive ability to make game-winning plays, like his buzzer-beater against Texas in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational.

However, following the resignation of Coach James Dickey, House left the Cougars and transferred to the Texas A&M Aggies. His transfer required a waiver from the NCAA, but it was granted, and House was able to play immediately. Here, his prowess only grew; he averaged 16.2 points per game and received first-team All-SEC honors.

Unfortunately, House met with a foot injury that kept him out of the game for the last four matches of that season. Undeterred, he returned stronger than ever for his senior season, during which he averaged 15.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Once again showcasing his knack for putting up big numbers, House scored at least 20 points in nine games.

The Aggies had a stellar run that season, winning many high-profile matches, including upsets against former rival Texas and No. 10 Gonzaga. Their season culminated with a shared SEC championship with Kentucky, followed by an unforgettable run in the NCAA Tournament that saw them reach the Sweet Sixteen.

Despite performing admirably at the college level, House went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. However, he was soon picked up by the Washington Wizards. His NBA career started somewhat rocky, with a fracture in his right wrist sidelining him for six weeks. After missing numerous games due to the injury, House was waived by the Wizards in March 2017.

But House’s journey in the NBA was far from over. After stints in the NBA G League and a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns, House found his way back to his hometown in November 2018, when the Houston Rockets called him up from their G League affiliate, Rio Grande Valley Vipers. After a brief return to the Vipers, House’s two-way contract was converted into a standard NBA contract for the remainder of the season.

House continued to contribute significantly to the Rockets throughout his time there, even setting a personal career-high with 23 points in November 2019. However, his journey with the Rockets ended in difficulty as he was expelled from the NBA’s Bubble in Orlando for violating the league’s COVID-19 safety guidelines. House was sent home and did not play for the rest of the 2019–20 season.

Nevertheless, things took a positive turn. On July 6, 2022, House signed a two-year, $8.5 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite being traded to the Detroit Pistons two years later, the Pistons waived him shortly after, marking the end of this chapter.
