Michael Foster Jr.'s Biography

Michael Foster Jr. is an American professional basketball player, born on January 16, 2003, currently part of the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League. His athletic journey is testament to his superiority on the court, shaped and polished by his years in high school, college, and professional basketball teams across diversified leagues.

Foster’s basketball journey commenced at Washington High School of Information Technology in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he exhibited extraordinary talent from an early age. His back-to-back wins leading the team to state runner-up finishes in his first two years at Washington were an early display of his leadership and prowess on the court. However, seeking a more competitive environment, he transferred to Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona for his junior season.

Stepping into his senior year at Hillcrest, Foster proved himself a powerful presence on the basketball court. He averaged 32.2 points and 18.4 rebounds per game, demonstrating both his offensive and defensive strategies. Due to his remarkable performances, he was selected for the McDonald’s All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic rosters. Recognizing Foster’s potential, ESPN and 247Sports identified him as a five-star recruit, while Rivals rated him as a four-star recruit.

The first significant twist in Foster’s career came when he declared his commitment as a high school freshman to play college basketball for Arizona State. However, a year later, he reconsidered his decision and reopened his recruitment. As another major turn of events, on April 23, 2021, Foster announced his decision to join the NBA G League, bypassing collegiate basketball, despite having offers from Florida State and Georgia.

Subsequently, Foster signed with the NBA G League Ignite, an affiliated developmental team. Unfortunately, he wasn’t selected in the 2022 NBA draft but secured an Exhibit 10 contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and joined their roster for the NBA Summer League. Foster showcased his grit during the Summer League debut by scoring five points against the Memphis Grizzlies in a match held at Salt Lake City. Later his contract was converted into a double-sided one, but he was subsequently released into free agency.

Foster then re-joined with the Delaware Blue Coats in December and played a pivotal role in getting the team to win the NBA G League title. In October 2023, Foster was brought in by the Washington Wizards. However, after a short stint, he was waived off and within a span of 10 days, he was picked by the Capital City Go-Go in October 2023.

Foster’s career saw international exposure when he joined hands with Cangrejeros de Santurce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional on April 13, 2024. Subsequently, he signed with Jiangxi Ganchi of the National Basketball League in June, only to return to the Capital City Go-Go on October 28, 2024.

Michael Foster embodies a blend of talent, competitiveness and adaptability, enabling him to shine in various basketball stages, irrespective of location and league. As of now, he continues to dominate the court for the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League, showcasing his skills and widening his horizon with each game, reaffirming his status as a promising player in the basketball world.
