Eric Gordon is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on December 25, 1988 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Gordon grew up in North Central High School and later attended Liberty University before transferring to Indiana University. At Indiana, Gordon showed tremendous potential as a freshman when he scored 20 points per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range. His play earned him Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and second team All-Big Ten honors. After his successful freshman year at IU, Gordon declared for the 2008 NBA Draft where he was selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers.

As a rookie with the Clippers, Eric played in all 82 regular season games averaging 16 points per game and 3 assists per contest while shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc. His impressive showing his rookie year coupled with an even better sophomore season led to him being named an NBA All Star during his third season in 2010-2011 campaign; becoming just one of four players under 21 years old to make an All Star appearance that season. Following this breakout season, Gordon would be traded away from the Clippers after three seasons due to their rebuilding process and landed with New Orleans Pelicans (formerly known as Hornets).

In New Orleans/Oklahoma City, Gordon struggled initially due to multiple injuries which limited him to playing only nine games during 2012-2013 campaign but still managed to average 20 points per game while healthy enough that 2013-2014 campaign despite battling through more injuries and surgery on both ankles .
