BIOGRAPHY

Walt Harris is an American professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Harris was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama on August 10, 1984. He was a standout athlete from an early age, playing football and running track at Huffman High School before attending Middle Georgia State University on a full athletic scholarship.

Harris started his amateur MMA career in 2010 before turning pro three years later. During his time as an amateur fighter he earned multiple regional titles including Georgia’s Knockout Promotions Light Heavyweight Championship and North Carolina’s Coastal Combat Light Heavyweight Championship. He made his debut as a professional fighter in 2013 with Climax Fight League where he won two fights by submission within two rounds each. After moving to Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) he defeated Richie Santiago en route to winning the promotion’s heavyweight title which led him ultimately to sign with UFC in 2017.

Since joining UFC, Harris has compiled six wins out of eight fights but unfortunately suffered personal tragedies as well; In 2019, Harris’ 19 year old stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard went missing and her remains were subsequently discovered later that same year after being kidnapped from her home town of Auburn, Alabama; subsequently leading him to take some time away from fighting to grieve for Aniah’s death and spend more quality time with his family who had been deeply affected by this tragedy . However despite all the hardship that he faced , Walt returned back into the octagon at UFC 249 against Alistair Overeem for a fight which resulted in victory for Walt via knockout punch only forty-two seconds into round one.. The win was also regarded by many critics as one of 2020’s best comeback victories . As such , it inspired many people around including himself ; leading Walt to claim that “I finally feel like I’m back on my feet”. His career record stands at 13 wins (6 knockouts 5 submissions 2 decisions ) & 8 losses across 21 professional fights over seven years till date

With such performances inside & outside of octagon , Walt is considered one among most inspiring fighters today ; known for not just skills inside Octagon but also for staying true & honest towards self & others .. As such , it won’t be surprising if we see him possibly contending soon or even becoming champion belt holder in near future !
