Shane Burgos Bio

Shane Burgos is a professional mixed martial artist who currently fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division. He was born on April 24, 1990 in New Rochelle, NY and has been competing as an amateur since 2012. Since turning pro in 2014, he has compiled a record of 13-1 with seven wins by stoppage.

Burgos began his combat sport career earning two amateur boxing titles before transitioning to MMA shortly after completing high school. In 2011, he won both the Westchester County Amateur and Empire State Golden Gloves tournaments which earned him a spot on the USA Boxing National Team Trials squad and put him on the radar of many fight promoters around New York City area such as Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat promotion.

He quickly found success there where he reeled off four straight wins under their banner while also training at various gyms including Tiger Schulman’s Fight School and World Martial Arts Center in White Plains, NY; as well as Renzo Gracie Academy located nearby in Manhattan where he worked extensively with Ricardo Almeida blackbelt Nick Pace who saw potential right away working with Shane saying “What I saw right away is that this kid had skills far beyond his years”. His success culminated with a title win at ROC 45 over former UFC fighter Godofredo Pepey which led to being signed by WSOF (now PFL) where went 2-0 prior to signing with UFC later that year..

In early 2016 Burgos made his promotional debut taking headlining position for UFC Fight Night Newark against Tiago Trator whom he defeated via unanimous decision setting up what would be first ever main event slot for show held at Nassau Coliseum headlined by current champion Max Holloway vs Chris Filipe later that same year.. Despite ultimately losing split decision due extraordinary performance Burgos showed promise amongst fans who were impressed showing ability hang tough one toughest divisions despite coming short victory..

Since then Shane continued rack impressive performances including first round knockout Chad Laprise plus submission notable Charles Rosa among others most recently submitting Makwan Amirkhani just last month solidifying spot top fifteen rankings for 145 lbs divisions whilst now looking towards next challenge hoping get closer championship gold come 2021..
