Shamil Gaziev is a Russian mixed martial artist currently competing in the UFC’s Lightweight division. He was born on June 13th, 1994 in Khasavyurt, Russia and began training in combat sports at an early age. At just 15 years old, he had already won multiple regional-level competitions and decided to make MMA his focus.
Gaziev quickly rose through the ranks of the local MMA circuit and earned himself a spot on the international stage with a successful amateur career highlighted by victories over some of Europe’s top prospects. In 2016 he made his professional debut and went undefeated for three consecutive years winning all eight fights including five submissions and two knockouts before making his way into the UFC.
