Marcus McGhee

BIOGRAPHY

Marcus McGhee is an American mixed martial artist and former UFC athlete who rose to fame after winning the welterweight championship of The Ultimate Fighter: Team USA vs. Team UK in 2009. Born on August 5th, 1989 in San Diego, California, Marcus was brought up by parents with a strong passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This sparked his interest in the sport at an early age and he began training when he was just 13 years old.

At only 16 years old, Marcus competed successfully in amateur fights before turning professional at the age of 19. In 2010, he won his first professional fight at XFO 20 against Tyrone Pruitt via submission and this success opened up opportunities for further fights. In 2013, he joined UFC as part of their Middleweight division but since then has focused solely on Welterweights taking him from strength to strength within the company.

In 2016 Marcus moved back down to lightweight where he achieved more success than ever before and went on to win his next three fights over Charles Byrd (Submission), Cortney Casey (Unanimous Decision) & Josh Burkman (Knockout). This earned him title shot against Leon Edwards which unfortunately ended with a split decision loss but showed that despite being relatively new into the UFC circuit; Marcus had what it takes to compete with some of its best fighters around today’s world stage..

Since then Marcus has gone onto have an impressive career within MMA having competed across multiple promotions such as Bellator Fighting Championships and Absolute Championship Berkut – where again proving his skillset amongst some very tough competition! He also decided recently return back home down weight class once again so that could be something we might see him doing very soon coming 2021 season! Aside from fighting professionally there’s no doubt that Marcus loves teaching others about this great martial art by hosting various classes which allow them learn proper technique along way towards becoming better competitors themselves too!

Outside of competing professionally; McGhee is actually quite involved within charitable work related personal causes – donating time & money different institutions need help those less fortunate than himself or even struggling cope conditions such mental illness depression etc… There’s no doubt that this kind attitude towards helping people speaks volumes about character & dedication making sure everyone feels like they’re taken care off regardless circumstance society puts them under pressure due current economic terms! Without question; going forward – one can only hope will continue spread positivity whenever possible while giving us all reminder why fight can still make difference meaningful ways our own local communities too!
