Journey Newson is an American Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight contender. He was born in Portland, Oregon and began his martial arts training at the age of 12. His first major competition came when he won the amateur bantamweight title at Shark Fights in 2017.
Newson made his professional MMA debut in 2018, where he went 5-0 with four finishes before signing with the UFC. In 2019, he competed on Dana White’s Contender Series and earned a contract after defeating Domingo Pilarte via unanimous decision. Later that same year, Journey made his promotional debut against Luis Pena at UFC Fight Night: Joanna vs Waterson, winning via submission due to strikes in the second round.
Since then, Journey has gone 3-2 inside the Octagon and has been able to defeat some tough opponents such as Pingyuan Liu and Randy Costa. His most recent fight came against Gavin Tucker at UFC Vegas 21 which ended in a split draw due to one judge scoring it for him 29-28 while two others gave it 28-29 for Tucker respectively.
Outside of fighting, Journey is known for being quite active on social media but also enjoys spending time outdoors camping or fishing whenever possible to stay grounded from all of life’s distractions . He often visits children’s hospitals during any downtime from competing so that he can provide support to those who are not healthy enough to compete themselves.
On a mission still yet unfinished journey Newson continues to work hard every day towards becoming champion material inside of the octagon as well as being an inspiring role model outside if it too!
