Fernie Garcia is a Mexican-American Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. He began his career in 2004, and since then has made an impressive name for himself in the sport. Fernie is currently signed with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Beginning his career at the age of 19, Fernie quickly established himself as one of the top MMA fighters in Mexico. He had multiple fights on local shows before signing with UFC in 2015. In 2016 he took part in “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3” tournament where he finished third overall. During this period of his career, Fernie amassed an impressive 10-3 record in professional fights, gaining notoriety for being one of the best lightweights to come out of Mexico and making a name for himself as a very dangerous fighter to face off against.
Since signing with UFC, Fernie has continued to show that same power and skill that earned him recognition early on. His debut fight was against Marcin Held at UFC 211 where he won by unanimous decision giving him his first victory inside The Octagon™️ . Following up on this success, Fernie went 5-2 during his time competing under the promotion including wins over Gregor Gillespie ,Diego Ferreira , Gilbert Burns and Krzysztof Jotko amongst others before retiring from active fighting competition.
Outside of professional fighting competition; Fernie works extensively as a coach training aspiring athletes while still staying active through various public appearances throughout Latin America speaking on topics such as mental health awareness or philanthropic efforts such as working together with UNICEF helping children affected by poverty all around Central American countries such as El Salvador or Guatemala among others.. He also served three years teaching martial arts classes at Movimiento Nacional de Resistencia Civil (MNR), an organization providing free self defense classes to women living exposed areas all across Mexico .
Today, after more than 15 years dedicated full time to Mixed Martial Arts Competition; Fernandez Garcia continues undertaking projects related either directly or indirectly to combat sports . An inspiration figure not only because of what he achieved inside The Octagon but also due what he does outside it; proving that you can be successful both inside and outside your chosen field if you are passionate about it enough and work hard towards achieving your goals regardless how challenging they might seem along the way
