Luana Santos

BIOGRAPHY

Luana Santos is a professional mixed martial arts fighter from Brazil. She currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s bantamweight division and holds a record of 9-2-1. Santos began her career as an amateur fighter, winning her first three fights before turning pro in 2014 at the age of 22.

From there she quickly rose through the ranks of both Brazilian and international MMA with five consecutive victories, four by way of submission. In 2016 she signed with UFC, making her promotional debut in 2017 when she defeated Sarah Moras via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs Lee in Oklahoma City, USA.

Since then Luana has gone on to have success inside the octagon, claiming wins over top contenders such as Karol Rosa, Rachael Ostovich and most recently Liz Carmouche whom she defeated by split decision at UFC on Fox 31 in December 2018. Her only losses so far inside the octagon have come against two former champions – Miesha Tate and Holly Holm – however both fights were extremely closely contested affairs that could’ve gone either way on any given night.

Outside of fighting Luana is actively involved with students teaching jiu-jitsu classes for kids aged 8–13 across her native Brazil helping them learn discipline and self-confidence from martial arts whilst also having fun along the way! Furthermore Luana is also involved with various charities throughout South America including helping raise money for those affected by poverty or natural disasters within her home nation.

Aside from charity work amongst other things Luana Santos also spends time away from competition training hard to improve every aspect of her game such as conditioning strength technique etc… She works alongside some of best coaches instructors & athletes around to ensure that she continues developing into one of sport’s most proficient fighters today! With upcoming fights against top level opponents lined up including Katlyn Chookagian Jessica Eye & Talita Bernardo – it looks like we can expect much more success (and hopefully some title contention!) From this incredible athlete moving forward into 2019 and beyond!
