BIOGRAPHY

Karolina Kowalkiewicz is a professional mixed martial artist and former Muay Thai kickboxer. She currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where she is the current Women’s Strawweight Champion. Born on October 15th, 1985 in Lublin, Poland, Karolina began her martial arts journey with Taekwondo at a young age before transitioning to boxing and eventually kickboxing.

At 19 years old, Karolina made her professional debut as a Muay Thai fighter and quickly established herself as one of Europe’s best female competitors in the sport. During this time period, she won multiple titles including two Polish Championships (2005 & 2011), two European Championships (2007 & 2012) and even took home gold at the IFMA World Championship back in 2009. Due to these accomplishments, Karolina gained recognition from around the world.

In 2012, Karolina decided to make transition into MMA full-time by joining KSW – one of Europe’s largest promotions – where she won four out of five fights over two years before signing with UFC in 2015. She then made her promotional debut against Randa Markos at The Ultimate Fighter Finale 20 where she earned a unanimous decision victory and moved up to 6–0 for her career as an MMA professional fighter overall. In November 2016, after winning five consecutive fights inside UFC’s octagon – which included victories over top contenders such as Claudia Gadelha and Joanna Jedrzejczyk -Kowalkiewicz was rewarded an opportunity to fight then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk forthe UFC Strawweight title belt live on pay-per view TV event in New York City; though despite giving it all she had during their exciting title bout held inside Madison Square Garden Arena that night , Karolina did not get enough points from judges’ scorecards thus ending up losing via close split decision verdict . Upon defeating Rose Namajunas for second time earlier this year however , ‘KK’ finally reached pinnacle of women’s 115 lbs mma division by becoming newly crowned champina .

Despite being relatively new face within UFC organization still , due ito highly entertaining fighting style combined with strong background stemming from solid traditional standup disciplines ,Karolin has already garnered big fan following amongst enthusiasts across globe . Outside cage too ,she enjoys being active member within local community ; working closely together with foundation which aids orphaned children both financially along with spiritually speaking ; plus promoting various charitable activities related sports events etc ..
