Da-Un Jung is a South Korean mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is best known as one of the top featherweight contenders in Asia and has been competing professionally since 2009. He went on to win various titles including two Cage Warriors championships while also becoming the first Asian fighter to compete in both Dream and ONE FC.
Jung grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where he began training martial arts at the age of 13. It was during this time that his passion for martial arts started growing and he soon discovered kickboxing when he joined a gym near his home. That’s when he decided to dedicate himself completely to MMA and later moved to Tokyo, Japan for further training under renowned coach Shigeki Akiyama.
By 2010, Da-Un Jung had established himself as one of Asia’s top featherweights with wins over notable opponents including Akira Omura, Yutaka Saito, Masakazu Imanari amongst others. This earned him a call up from Dream organization where he made his debut against Jong Man Kim at Dream 10 which ended in submission victory by rear naked choke. After winning three consecutive fights inside the promotion; Jung vacated his Featherweight title due health issues before signing with ONE FC as their first Asian born featherweight champion at just 23 years old..
He won two back-to-back fights inside ONE FC before making an appearance at UFC Fight Night 36: Machida vs Mousasi where he faced Tom Niinimaki which resulted into unanimous decision win for Da Un Jung despite being awarded 30–27 scorecards across all rounds by judges; highlighting how tough fight it was indeed! Following UFC Fight Night 36 bout there were talks about Jung dropping down Featherweight division however those plans were eventually scrapped after news emerged that Da Un would be staying put at 145 lbs weight class .
With impressive performances against solid opponents from around world; Da Un has become highly regarded among top fighters of Featherweight division & now looks forward to facing toughest competition offered by UFC Promotions throughout 2017 season onwards!
