BIOGRAPHY
Calvin Kattar is an American mixed martial artist who fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born and raised in Methuen, Massachusetts, Kattar began his career as a professional fighter in 2007. Since then, he has become one of the top featherweight fighters in the UFC and is currently ranked #7 in the world rankings. He holds notable victories over Yair Rodriguez, Max Holloway and Zabit Magomedsharipov.
Kattar’s introduction to MMA was completely by chance. As a kid growing up on the streets of Methuen, he had been labelled “the crazy man” due to his reckless behavior that often got him into trouble with law enforcement. After being arrested once too many times, his father decided to enrol him into a local boxing gym when Calvin was just 15 years old as an alternative form of outlet for his energy. It was there that he developed an affinity for combat sports and soon after moved onto train Brazilian jiu-jitsu at Lauzon MMA – where he coached alongside UFC veteran Joe Lauzon until 2015.
Throughout Kattar’s early career as a professional MMA fighter between 2007-2012, he amassed an impressive 17-2 record before signing with WSOF (World Series Of Fighting) which would later be rebranded as PFL (Professional Fighters League). During this stint with PFL/WSOF Cal competed six times capturing three wins by knockout/TKO while also suffering three losses resulting from submission or decision defeat over two years before joining Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) show in 2017 – afterwards earning himself contract with UFC organization shortly thereafter debuting against Andre Fili which resulted in Doctor stoppage TKO victory on Oct 6th 2018 marking the beginning of what we now know today as Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Katta’s rise within FeatherWeight division among other notable names such Alyxandru Lungu , Dan Ige , Arnold Allen .
Since then , Calvin has gone on to capture four more impressive victories within octagon walls thus far : vs Ricardo Lamas , Chris Fishgold through second round TKO ; Decision win against Jeremy Stephens; Most recent 2020 main event win vs Dan Ige via split decision & most notably back March 2019 historic performance vs Max Holloway – winning first 4 rounds clearly before succumbing 5th last round via punches . This amazing fight brought big attention towards Kattars’ name worldwide boosting awareness & popularity even further than ever before .
Outside and inside of cage Calvin leads very disciplined lifestyle focusing mostly around healthy eating habits & training regime constantly striving towards achieving highest potential possible at all times no matter what obstacles may come along way throughout life journey ahead of him .
