Austin Hubbard (born April 2, 1993) is an American mixed martial artist currently competing in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has formerly competed for LFA and RFA.
Hubbard began his MMA career in 2012 as an amateur and quickly rose through the ranks as a professional before signing with RFA in 2014. As a part of that promotion he fought seven times, going 6-1 under their banner. On November 8th 2018 at LFA 53: Hubbard vs Avila he won their lightweight championship by defeating then champion Dakota Avila via unanimous decision. This win earned him his shot at UFC’s roster when they signed him after a successful trial period on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series show on August 20, 2019 where he defeated Kyle Prepolec via split decision to secure a contract with them.
On January 18 2020, Hubbard made his UFC debut against veteran Thiago Moises at UFC Fight Night 166 where he went on to pick up the win via first round TKO stoppage setting off what would be a 3 fight winning streak inside the Octagon including back to back performance bonuses for “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of The night” respectively following his wins over Mark Madsen and Joe Lauzon at UFC 248 & 252 respectively which saw him finish both fights within two rounds each time earning himself two finishes inside three fights with all three bouts being aired live on ESPN networks worldwide seeing him become one of most sought out rising stars in MMA today.
With 7 wins coming by way of stoppage spread out over 9 professional victories while still only 27 years old Austin has had quite an impressive run so far which is sure to continue if he keeps up this level as well considering that prior to joining UFC’s ranks he also held belts from respected regional promotions such as Rampage Fights & Rumble Time Promotions making it clear just how much potential this fighter holds regardless if it turns out that success comes for him inside or outside4of UFC’s cage any given night
