Alexandre Pantoja is a professional MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter and grappler from Brazil. He currently fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s flyweight division and is ranked tenth in the world.
Pantoja was born on August 18, 1991, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Growing up he had an affinity for combat sports, but it wasn’t until his teenage years that he began to take them seriously. At 16-years-old he started training judo and jiu-jitsu as well as kickboxing and boxing at various local gyms before deciding to become a professional MMA fighter at 20-years old.
Before joining the UFC Pantoja fought for various other promotions such as Jungle Fight and Shooto Brasil where he had great success becoming champion of multiple weight classes including bantamweight (135 lbs), featherweight (145 lbs) and flyweight (125 lbs). His record outside of the UFC stands at 21 wins with only four losses which includes 12 submissions by either kimura or rear naked choke making him one of the best submission specialists currently competing in MMA today.
After signing with the UFC in 2018, Pantoja made his debut against Dustin Ortiz later that year winning via unanimous decision after dominating all three rounds displaying both striking and submission skills while keeping calm under pressure when Ortiz managed to get dominant position during some scrambles on the ground thus proving why he earned himself a spot among one of mixed martial arts most elite organizations. Since then Alexandre has gone 2–1–0 within the promotion beating Wilson Reis by split decision while losing his last bout against Deiveson Figueiredo also via split decision Despite this loss however many consider him one of “the” fighters to watch out for in 2021 especially now being part of Team Elevation alongside former lightweight titleholder Frankie Edgar who recently joined forces with former straw weight champ Carla Esparza amongst others to form what could arguably be considered one of if not “the” strongest team inside any fight camp around today.
With over 10 years experience competing professionally Alexandre will look forward into 2021 aiming for more victories come what may as well shining more light towards Brazilian MMA athletes everywhere!
