Abubakar Nurmagomedov is a Russian-born professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter and former sambo champion. He has become one of the most popular names in MMA and is currently fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Born in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia on September 13th, 1988 to parents Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov and Zargan Gaseyeva. Abubakar was the eldest child of his family with two younger brothers Magomedd and Usman both being active competitors in wrestling, boxing and judo. Like his brothers before him Abubakar started training in combat sports from an early age under his father’s tutelage. His father also had great success as an amateur wrestler which he passed onto all three of his sons, as well as teaching them about nutrition for athletes alongside proper conditioning techniques to help enhance performance during their training sessions.
In 2005 at 17 years old Abubakar won gold at the Junior European Sambo Championships held in Anapa which saw him gain recognition amongst many top Sambo coaches throughout Russia; This led to him joining American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) after graduating high school where he began honing his skills further under head coach Javier Mendez who recognized Abubakar’s potential very quickly by entering him into local competitions such as CFX: Battle For The Belt held that same year where he emerged victorious against opponent Alexey Oleynik via unanimous decision after 3 rounds of hard fought competition – this victory kickstarted what would become a successful career with AKA producing mixed martial arts champions like Cain Velasquez & Daniel Cormier over time.
After impressing more people with victories over highly regarded fighters Terry Etim & Kamal Shalorus during 2011/ 2012 respectively it was no surprise when UFC came calling offering Abubakar a contract which he promptly accepted; He would debut against Pat Healy at UFC 165 Toronto Ontario Canada on 21st September 2013 however due to legal issues surrounding marijuana found within Pat’s system prior to their fight they were forced to move venues – eventually finding themselves competing inside Rogers Arena located in Vancouver British Columbia where upon completion it became clear why UFC had decided sign up such a powerful talent as not only did Abbukkar manage win via submission triangle chokehold but recorded fastest submission victory ever seen inside octagon doing so 4 minutes 55 seconds into first round making sure fans knew not mess with “The Eagle”.
After remaining undefeated for 16 fights earning himself interim lightweight championship title along side 2nd division championship belt along way it wasn’t until 2018 when 27 year old faced off against reigning light weight champion Conor McGregor that name appeared global headlines; Unfortunately despite putting forth tremendous effort loss handed down judges scorecards seeing “The Notorious” walk away victoriously yet special place earned hearts MMA fans around world because simply put ‘you never quit’ attitude displayed by brave Russian warrior even when things weren’t going according plan still managed stay composed remain respectful towards its opposing number regardless fact how intense situation was especially given importance winning result could have potentially brought should been victorious that night thus becoming MMA biggest stars right now..
Despite unfortunate setback aforementioned bout hasn’t stopped 31 year old continuing pursue dream becoming best possible version himself each day harder than one before resulting multiple accolades being awarded including prestigious honor from President Vladimir Putin Sports Achievement Medal 2019– testimony given skill set possessed current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov .
