BIOGRAPHY

Vitor Belfort is a professional mixed martial artist, boxer and entrepreneur from Brazil. He currently fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as a Light Heavyweight division fighter. His fighting style is influenced by Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and judo.

Belfort began his career at the young age of nineteen when he debuted in 1996 as an undefeated fighter with twelve straight wins. During this time he was known for his aggressive striking style and knockout power which made him very popular amongst fans. Belfort’s first big win came against Tank Abbott in 1997, where he became the UFC 12 tournament champion – becoming one of only two fighters to ever win a tournament title without having any previous MMA experience at that time. Shortly after this victory, Vitor signed with Pride Fighting Championships where he would remain until 2006; during which time he competed frequently against some of history’s greatest fighters including Wanderlei Silva, Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson. In 2004 Vitor stepped out of the cage to compete professionally in boxing matches; being successful before returning back to mixed martial arts full-time two years later when signing with UFC once again.

Since returning to UFC Belfort has been able to solidify himself as one of the top light heavyweight contenders throughout his entire career going 16-9 over 25 bouts; making him one of only three active fighters who have had more than 20 fights within UFC’s octagon walls (alongside Jim Miller & Donald Cerrone). Some notable victories include those over Michael Bisping & Luke Rockhold – two former middleweight champions – proving just how dangerous Vitor really is even at 42 years old today!
