BIOGRAPHY

Tatsuro Taira is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, representing Japan in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is known for his tenacious attitude and never-give-up spirit.

Taira began training Karate at the age of five under his father’s tutelage. As he got older, Taira added Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Muay Thai to his repertoire of martial arts. In 2011 he made his MMA debut in Shooto: Professional Shooto 10th Round. From there on out he put together an impressive record of 5 wins and 1 loss before being signed by the UFC in 2016.

Taira has fought several times for the UFC since joining their roster, with notable fights against Erick Silva and Li Jingliang both ending in victory for him. His biggest win came when faced off against former Bellator featherweight champion Pat Curran at UFC Fight Night 111 where he was able to submit Curran via armbar in round 3; this earned him a Performance of The Night bonus from the promotion as well as widespread recognition within MMA circles around the world.
