Alex Perez Bio

Alex Perez is a professional MMA fighter and jiu-jitsu instructor. Born in 1986 in New York City, Alex’s passion for martial arts started at an early age. He began training in boxing and kickboxing at the tender age of 14, and went on to train under renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master Marcelo Garcia from 2001 onwards. After years of hard work and dedication, Alex earned his black belt from Marcelo Garcia in 2007.

After his success with jiu-jitsu, Alex decided to pursue a career as an MMA fighter. He joined American Top Team (ATT) where he trained alongside other top fighters such as Robbie Lawler, Tarec Saffiedine and Renzo Gracie. His professional debut came in 2009 against Roberto Vargas which ended with a unanimous decision victory for Alex. Since then he has gone on to fight some of the biggest names in MMA including former WEC champion Miguel Torres whom he defeated by submission via triangle choke at UFC 129: St Pierre vs Shields back in 2011. It was this fight that put him firmly on the map as one of the top bantamweights around today.

His success continued throughout 2012 when he won four out of five fights against notable opponents like Scott Jorgensen, Eddie Wineland and Takeya Mizugaki before finally winning The Ultimate Fighter 18 crown over Chris Holdsworth late 2013 after submitting him via rear naked choke 1st round; which also earned him performance bonus award plus Fight Of The Night honors along with fellow finalist Davey Grant showered by Dana White & Joe Rogan during post fight commentary analysis inside octagon cage arena center stage!

In 2014 Alex took part in UFC 176: Aldo vs Mendes II where unfortunately suffered a loss due to injury but was awarded Fight Of The Night honors nonetheless due to his never say die attitude during that bout versus Zach Makovsky; whom eventually won submission via arm triangle choke just minutes later 2nd round! Thanks mainly to this courageous effort that night many fans have become fond admirers following much support since…

Today – now residing Fayetteville Georgia – Alex continues teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for local academies while also competing within various promotions worldwide; such as World Series Fighting (WSF), Invicta FC & Bellator events among many others fighting alongside veteran peers looking forward bright future while inspiring generations come…
