Walker Little's Biography

Walker Douglas Little, born on April 1, 1999, is a renowned American professional football player who plays as the offensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team in the National Football League (NFL). Little emerged from a humble background in Houston, Texas, where he was born and nurtured his love for football. His journey in the sports world started at Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, where he played as an offensive tackle.

At Episcopal High School, Little’s propensity for football was evident as he quickly blossomed into a consensus five-star prospect. This made him a top choice for many colleges, with over 30 of them showing interest in securing his expertise on the football field. However, he committed to Stanford University in 2017, marking the beginning of an impressive college football career.

Stanford University’s decision to recruit Little paid off notably. The young athlete became the first true freshman to start at left tackle at Stanford since the reign of Kirk Chambers in 2000 — a commendable feat for a freshman. Not only did he match expectations, but he also exceeded them by winning the Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year award jointly. His streak of excellent performance continued into 2018 when he played and started in every game, earning the All-Pac-12 first-team honors.

However, the peak of his college career came with a setback. In 2019, while playing against Northwestern, Little suffered a debilitating knee injury (torn MPFL), which put him on the sidelines for the rest of the season. Despite the setback, Little remained undeterred. He decided to return to Stanford for the 2020 season, but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to opt out.

His absence from the field did not diminish NFL teams’ interest in him. Jacksonville Jaguars, after obtaining a second-round pick by trading Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings, stepped forward to draft Little in the second round (45th overall) of the 2021 NFL draft. Shortly after being drafted, Little signed his four-year rookie contract with the Jaguars on July 20, 2021, paving the way for what promises to be an illustrious professional career.

While Little’s personal accomplishments are undeniable, football greatness also seems to run in his family. His grandfather, Gene Little, was a college football star at Rice and was picked by the New York Giants in the 1952 NFL draft’s 18th round. Additionally, his uncle Jack Little made a name for himself in college football at Texas A&M and was picked in the fifth round of the 1953 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts.
