Ty Summers's Biography

Tyler Christian Summers, born December 31, 1995, began his journey into the sports world at a young age, developing a great passion for football that would shape his life and career in the National Football League (NFL). An athlete of exceptional prowess and talent, Summers is commended for his football career, especially as a linebacker, transforming himself into a professional football player for the New York Giants. His remarkable achievements and dedication towards the game illustrate his industrious work ethic and undying passion.

Born and raised in American soil, Summers initially developed his game techniques, instincts, and strategies during his college years at Texas Christian University (TCU). He etched his name in the annals of TCU football playing records, participating in 51 games, starting in 32 of them. As a linebacker for the TCU Horned Frogs, he recorded an impressive 317 tackles, including 23.5 for loss, and accumulated 10 sacks throughout his career at the University. His sophomore year topped the chart with a career-high of 121 tackles. His fantastic performances grew his reputation, culminating in him receiving second-team all-Big 12 Conference honors in 2016 and honorable mention all-Big 12 honors in both 2017 and 2018.

During the 2019 NFL draft, Summers was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round. Signing his rookie contract with the Packers on May 3, 2019, Summers expressed his unwavering commitment. Upon entering the 2021 season, he served as a diligent and competent backup linebacker and a core special teamer. However, due to injury, he was placed on reserve on December 24, and subsequently, on August 28, 2022, he was waived by the Packers.

Following his release, the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed him off waivers on August 31, 2022. Despite only staying with the Jaguars for a short three-day stint, Summers showed resilience and determination, finding his way back to the game through the practice squad. He continued to display his rapid adaptability when he was signed by the New Orleans Saints from Jacksonville’s practice squad on December 21, 2022. Through many transitions, Summers demonstrated an immense love for the game by adapting to several changes in quick succession. He briefly returned to the practice squad after being waived on August 29, 2023, and was signed back to the Saints active roster on September 21, after a short release period.

Eager to contribute to the growth of the teams he played for, Summers joined the Jacksonville Jaguars on May 16, 2024. After being released on August 11, he then proceeded to sign with Detroit Lions the following day. However, on August 27, 2024, he once again found himself released. Not one to be deterred, Summers subsequently joined the New York Giants practice squad on August 28, 2024, and was elevated to the active roster on September 25.

Away from the football field, Tyler Summers leads a devout Christian life and is married to his loving wife, Sidnee Jo Summers. The couple shares the joy of parenthood with their only son, a testament to their beautiful love story. Through shifting team memberships and personal challenges, Summers continues to shine, putting his steadfast dedication to his family, faith, and football on display.
