Born and bred in the United States, McDuffie’s football journey began in his high school days in Bellflower, California, where he attended St. John Bosco High School after a transfer from Servite High School. By the end of his senior year, McDuffie had made a name for himself and was selected to play in the All-American Bowl.

Following his high school career, the promising player earned the opportunity to play college football at the University of Washington. He began his freshman year in 2019, impressively playing all 13 games with 11 starts. Throughout the year, he demonstrated exceptional skill with 45 tackles and one interception. In 2020, as a sophomore, McDuffie continued to shine in his performances. He started all four of Washington’s games, amassing 14 tackles and an interception.

McDuffie’s college career ended at a high point in his junior year in 2021, as he declared eligibility for the 2022 NFL Draft, foregoing his senior season. It wasn’t long before McDuffie’s potential caught the eyes of professional recruits, and he was selected in the first round with the 21st overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft.

McDuffie’s NFL career kick-started with a debut in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals during the 2022 season. An injury setback saw him placed on injured reserve in September, but he made a comeback by November in the same year, recording his first professional sack and forced fumble against the Denver Broncos in Week 17. His rookie season ended successfully with one sack, 44 total tackles, seven passes defensed, and one forced fumble in 11 games and starts.

McDuffie’s first-ever Super Bowl win came in the same season while playing for the Chiefs. In Super Bowl LVII, McDuffie stood strong with five tackles, helping the Chiefs seize a 38–35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the 2023 season, McDuffie made a sentimental decision to change his jersey number from 21 to 22 in honor of his late brother Tyler who passed in 2015. He finished the season with three sacks, 80 total tackles, seven passes defensed, and five forced fumbles, incurring him the survey of First-team All-Pro.
