His talent did not go unnoticed, with the University of Florida offering him a scholarship, and despite offers from high-ranking universities like Alabama, Perine chose to take his talents to Florida.

In his four-year tenure at the University of Florida, Perine proved to be a remarkable athlete, consistently performing from his freshman year and finishing his final senior year in style. His first season saw him as the second lead rusher accumulating 421 yards on 91 carries, scoring a touchdown, and making nine receptions for 161 yards, marking a touchdown.

He was selected by the New York Jets as the 120th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite experiencing a high ankle sprain that led to his placement on the injured reserve, Perine still managed to finish the rookie season with 64 carries for 232 rushing yards. This admirable performance coupled with 11 receptions for 63 receiving yards occurred in a total of ten games.

Despite his limited appearances in the 2021 season, Perine continued his football exploits and was ultimately released by the Jets during the final roster cuts on August 30, 2022. He was later signed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad and the Miami Dolphins’ before joining the Kansas City Chiefs’ squad.
