Travis Bell's Biography

Travis Bell was born on October 27th, 1998, into a world far removed from the wild cheering and adrenaline-packed moments of the National Football League (NFL) that he would eventually find himself in. Growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, young Bell could have never dreamed that his talents for the game would one day see him become a professional football nose tackle for the Minnesota Vikings.

His journey to the professional football league began one tackle at a time at Jefferson Davis High School where he first showcased his talent. Travis Bell didn’t just play football; he brought a level of prowess and skill that was evident from his first game. His four years as a letter-winner at Jefferson Davis ticks off impressive statistics – 20.0 sacks, 229 tackles, including a staggering 80 tackles and 9.0 sacks in just eight games during his senior year. But Bell was not only about football; he also excelled acadically achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during his final semester.

After high school, having risen as a two-star recruit, Bell committed to play college football for the Kennesaw State Owls. It didn’t take long for him to become instrumental to the team. His first season saw him amassing 24 tackles and helping his side reach the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. Over the next season, Bell played 13 games, registering 30 tackles, 5.0 sacks, and 9.0 tackles-for-loss, contributing to Kennesaw State’s ranking as the third-best team nationally in total defense.

The 2020 season, however, was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, postponed until spring 2021. Despite these challenges, Bell played in four games and made 11 stops and two tackles-for-loss. Continuing his strong performance in 2021, he achieved second-team All-Big South Conference honors with 4.0 sacks and 6.0 tackles-for-loss.

Then, in his final season in 2022, Bell powered through 11 games securing 34 tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss, and 1.5 sacks. At the end of his tenure with Kennesaw State, his record stood at 11 sacks and 24.5 tackles-for-loss in 54 games – a true testament to his relentless dedication.

Despite not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, his undeterred spirit saw him posting 30 bench press reps at his pro day. The fruits of his consistent efforts culminated in him being selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears, a monumental accomplishment as he became the first player from Kennesaw State to be drafted.

However, his stint with the Bears proved to be short-lived as he was waived in August 2023 only to return to the practice squad. The next few months saw him being signed by the Atlanta Falcons, released, claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals, and waived again all in a matter of months. Bell then returned to the Bears’ practice squad in September 2024, before being released in October.

Finally, November 2024 saw Travis Bell carving his path to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad, a testament to his indomitable will and raw talent. His journey, marked by extreme highs, lows, and a relentless dedication to the game, is a powerful narrative of resilience. It remains to be seen where Travis Bell’s journey takes him next in the dynamic world of professional football.
