Tony Fields II's Biography

Tony Fields II, born on June 18, 1999, is an accomplished American professional football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He used to play at the collegiate level at the University of Arizona and West Virginia University.

Fields took his first breath in a musical family, as the son of the renowned singer LeMisha Grinstead. And while he undoubtedly inherited his mother’s flair, it was football that truly sparked Fields’ passion. He spent his early years, perfecting his sport at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas.

Upon graduation, Fields set his sights on the University of Arizona. The University is not just known for its academic prowess but also for its notable athletic programs. Fields opted to commit to the school with the hope of advancing his football career.

As a freshman at Arizona, Fields instantly found his footing, earning himself a starting spot on the football team. For three years, he served as the team’s primary Outside Linebacker. However, his youthful ambition drove Fields to seek an opportunity where he could further showcase his versatility to NFL scouts. This fervor led to his decision to transfer to West Virginia University following his year at Arizona.

His senior year at West Virginia became a defining period in his collegiate career, as he ended the season with flying colors which undeniably readied him to take the next step. Fields, brimming with talent and confidence, declared for the 2021 NFL draft.

Fields’ hard work and determination bore fruit on May 1, 2021. The Cleveland Browns recognized his potential and selected him with the 153rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. This milestone marked Fields’ transition from college football to the professional stage.

Fields would sign his four-year rookie contract just a few days later, on May 13, 2021. This contract reaffirmed his commitment to his career and to the Browns, as he embarked on his journey into professional football.

Fields enthusiastically plunged into his rookie season, but it was in the 2024 season that he faced his first major hurdle. In Week 1, Fields incurred a severe ankle injury. He was then placed on injured reserve on September 11, 2024.

Just over a month later, on October 22, the Browns released him. This event was a setback for Fields, marking the end of his time with them. However, adversity is never a deterrent to an athlete of Field’s caliber, but an opportunity to charge forward and emerge even stronger.
