Tipa Galeai

BIOGRAPHY

Tipa Te’i Galeai was born on February 26, 1997, into a world that he’d soon become quite influential in, that of American professional football. His journey as a football player was anything but straightforward, though his determination and resilience ultimately led to him gaining notoriety as a defensive lineman. Even more compelling is that Galeai managed to make a name for himself as a free agent, a feat that not many in his profession can boast of.

At the start of his career, Galeai played college football, and it was clear from the outset that he was a formidable force on the field. It’s of no surprise that he was snapped up by the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs followed by the Utah State Aggies, teams that recognized his worth and had him play on their behalf.

However, it was the year 2020 that marked a pivotal point in Galeai’s career. Immediately following the 2020 NFL draft which took place on April 29, Galeai was signed up by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent. Despite being a significant moment in his career, it was only the beginning of a journey filled with uncertainty.

Within the same year, Galeai faced a hardship when he was waived during the final roster cuts on September 5, 2020. This caused him to be signed onto the practice squad the very next day. Galeai’s determination didn’t waver, though, and he was elevated to the active roster on September 12 for the week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Once the game ended, he reverted back to the team’s practice squad.

However, circumstances turned favorable again for Galeai in early 2021. On January 25th, he signed a reserve/futures contract with the Packers, indicating that his worth was being recognized once more. Despite demonstrating impressive skills on the field, Galeai was released by the Packers as part of their final roster cuts on August 31, 2021. He was then signed back into the practice squad the next day.

The 2022 NFL season saw Galeai return back to the field stronger than ever. He made it onto the Packers’ initial 53-man roster and even got promoted to the active roster on November 16 to replace an injured player. The icing on the cake was when he recorded his first career sack on Baker Mayfield during a game against the Cleveland Browns on December 25.

Yet by the end of 2022, Galeai was faced with another setback. He was placed on the injured reserve on October 15, 2022, and then released on December 27, 2022. Nonetheless, this didn’t mark the end of his professional football career. Galeai went onto sign with the BC Lions on January 30, 2024. Despite being released by the Lions on May 15, 2024, his journey continues. Just like his career began, Galeai remains a free agent, ready to prove his worth yet again.
