Born on June 14, 1993, Tevaughn Shaquele Campbell is a seasoned cornerstone of Canadian professional football, commanding space as a diligent cornerback. Currently, he operates as a free agent, always prepared to lend his deftness to a worthy team looking for a steadfast player on the field. His journey to the professional level is distinct as he began his early football days applying his craft in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) football for the Regina Rams.

Campbell’s athletic journey commenced at the University of Regina where he played for the Regina Rams. From 2011 to 2014, he displayed his agility and skill, undertaking the rigorous challenges of college-level football. His tenure at the university imparted him with an invaluable level of experience and skill, as his performances in CIS earned him a rightful spot in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

In 2015, Campbell was selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the third round, coming in at 22nd overall, in the CFL Draft. During his rookie year, he served in five games, exhibiting his talent and contributing to the team’s performances. Nevertheless, by February 11, 2016, Campbell was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft.

After spending roughly a year alongside his new teammates, Campbell found himself on yet another journey. Alongside the Roughriders’ third-round picks in the 2018 and 2019 CFL Drafts, he was traded to the Montreal Alouettes. This transition saw Campbell being exchanged for Vernon Adams and a fifth-round pick in the 2018 CFL Draft, an event occurring on August 15, 2017.

When 2019 arrived, Campbell inked a reserve/future contract with the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). Unfortunately, his stint with the Jets ended when he was waived on August 31, 2019. Despite this hitch, Campbell was not deterred, rather, his focus remained undeterred, and he signed to the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad on September 11, 2019.

Not long after, an opportunity arose for Campbell, and on October 29, 2019, he was promoted to the active roster. After a brief return to the practice squad, he ascended once more to the active roster on November 25, 2019. A brief series of hasty transitions saw Campbell being waived, re-signed to the practice squad, and subsequently signing a futures contract with the Chargers on December 30, 2019.

In Week 11, Campbell faced his former team, the Jets. The game delivered a momentous occasion as he intercepted a pass thrown by Joe Flacco, returning it for a six-yard touchdown during the 34-28 win. It marked Campbell’s first NFL interception and touchdown, a memorable triumph in his football career.

Nevertheless, the NFL’s unpredictable landscape saw another shift on August 23, 2022. Campbell was unfortunately released by the Chargers and placed on injured reserve a few days later. Further changes ensued as he was released on September 13 that year, and on October 17, 2022, he was signed to the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad. He didn’t stay too long with the Raiders as he was signed off by the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 26, 2022. Upon impressing the Jaguars coaching staff, he was re-signed with the team on March 16, 2023.

Following a pattern of waivers and re-signing, Campbell was released by the Jaguars on August 29, 2023, only to be re-signed on the practice squad. On January 8, 2024, he signed a reserve/future contract, forging ahead despite the irregular hiccups. However, fate saw another twist as he was released once more by the Jaguars on August 25, 2024.

Outside his gridiron prowess, Campbell explored other sporting landscapes. He trained alongside the Canada national rugby sevens team during their 2016-17 World Rugby Sevens Series stops in Hong Kong and Singapore. The sporting scene anticipates more from this seasoned player whether on the football field or otherwise.
