Teair Tart's Biography
Teair Tart, an American professional football player, was born on February 28, 1997. He started his journey in the National Football League (NFL) as a defensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers and previously signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2020. His college football career took place at ASA, Ellsworth Community College, and Florida International University (FIU).
Born and raised in the United States, Tart initiated his college football journey at ASA College in the bustling city of New York. His performance was commendable, recording five sacks in merely six games. However, a family tragedy – the sudden death of his older brother in a motorcycle accident – led Tart to leave the team temporarily.
Tart then altered his academic direction, briefly enrolling at the Valley Forge Military Academy. Yet, midway through his first term, he decided to transfer to East Mississippi Community College. Good fortune seemed to be on Tart’s side when he received an offer from Alabama. Sadly, this opportunity slipped away when he was cut from East Mississippi’s football team, just before the season’s inception.
Tart, however, did not let this setback deter him. He enrolled at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa, gracing the field in two games before a knee injury abruptly ended his season. After rehabilitation and recovery, Tart committed to transferring to Florida International University (FIU) for the final two NCAA eligibility seasons.
At FIU, Tart started strong with the Panthers, marking nineteen tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks. He even managed to record a forced fumble and break-up of a pass. His impressive streak continued with thirty-two tackles, including twelve tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble, leading his team.
While not recruited in the draft, the Tennessee Titans signed Tart as an undrafted free agent on April 25, 2020. However, he was waived in the final roster cuts on September 5, but quickly taken back to the team’s practice squad the very next day. After proving himself on the practice field, Tart was upgraded to the Titans’ active roster on November 7.
Tart’s commitment to the game led to a minor blemish when his zeal resulted in suspension for one game due to unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct during a game against the Cleveland Browns. He was reinstated within a week, only to be side-lined when placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team. However, he bounced back stronger and was activated on January 18, 2021.
Tart’s relation with the Titans further extended when he was re-signed for a one-year deal on March 9, 2022. Tart continued with the team until the 2023 offseason when he became a restricted free agent. The Titans immediately responded, placing a second-round tender on him. Unfortunately, for both Tart and the Titans, they parted ways when he was released on December 16, 2023.
Tart’s perseverance and resilience in his career were noticed, and he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. However, this arrangement lasted only a short while as Tart later signed with the Miami Dolphins in April. Ultimately, finding his place with the Los Angeles Chargers in August of 2024, Tart continues to show his profound determination and love for the game — embodying the true spirit of American football.
