BIOGRAPHY

Sean Michael Rhyan is a highly-talented American professional football guard known for his remarkable athleticism and exceptional skills in the sport, as evidenced by his position with the esteemed Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on the 15th of September, 2000, in Laguna Hills, California, and carved a path to professional sports excellence over the years, from his high school and collegiate years to his entry into professional football.

Rhyan’s early life was imbued with athleticism and a passion for sports as, contrary to his current football prowess, he spent most of his formative years playing baseball and rugby in Ladera Ranch, California where he grew up. His education began at the Capistrano Valley Christian School but completed his high school education at San Juan Hills High School, based in the majestic city of San Juan Capistrano, California, after transferring a year later.

In his senior year, the Orange County Register honored Rhyan by naming him the ‘Male Athlete of the Year,’ providing significant certainty of his destined path in sports. In the same year, he made a distinctive appearance in the 2019 All-American Bowl. Notably, he successfully clinched the CIF Southern Section Division 1 title in shot putting, further emphasizing the extent and breadth of his sporting talents.

After his high school education, Rhyan had to make a career-defining decision – which college to play football for. His remarkable talent and his subsequent impressive high school sporting career led to various offers from prestigious colleges such as Notre Dame, Alabama, and most institutions within the Pac-12 Conference. However, he chose to commit his college football years to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The UCLA Bruins named him a starter at offensive tackle immediately in his first year. Rhyan did not disappoint; he started all 12 of UCLA’s games in a stunning display of consistency and talent acquisition. His performance was so commendable that the Football Writers Association of America and USA Today named him ‘Freshman All-American.’ Despite the COVID-19 pandemic’s devastating effect on sports, Rhyan managed to start all seven-game sessions in the Bruins’ truncated 2020 season.

Come the year 2022, Rhyan’s hard work and consistency in football were rewarded when he was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the third round (92nd overall) of the year’s NFL draft. He signed his rookie contract on May 6, 2022. His first professional NFL action came on November 6, 2022, when he played a single special teams snap in a Week 9 loss to the Detroit Lions.

However, the commendable trajectory of his rookie season experienced some turbulence when he was suspended for six games due to the violation of the league’s substance abuse policy on November 25, abruptly concluding his season.
