Roy Robertson-Harris's Biography

Roy Robertson-Harris is a well-recognized name in the arena of American professional football. Born on July 23, 1993, his impressive career trajectory and commitment to the sport are evident in the paths he has embarked upon. Currently, he holds the position of a defensive tackle for the renowned Seattle Seahawks team, which is part of the National Football League (NFL).

The first touchpoint of his football career came when he played college football at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Little did anyone know that this would be the beginning of an extensive, high-profile run in the NFL. Earlier, Robertson-Harris was associated with the Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars, strengthening his position as a competent player in the NFL.

His professional journey saw an astounding rise when Robertson-Harris, although undrafted in the 2016 NFL draft, signed with the Chicago Bears on May 9, 2016. However, the same year, on August 30, he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list which caused him to spend his entire rookie season on it.

2017 brought a more active role for Robertson-Harris. He made a stride in his career, participating in 13 games, where he accomplished 13 tackles, two sacks, and an impressive pass deflection. The following year, his participation spanned every game, and he successfully recorded 20 tackles, three sacks, and three substantial tackles for loss. As an exclusive-rights free agent after the 2018 season, he got another chance to prove his mettle when he was tendered a contract by the Bears on March 13, 2019, which he later signed on April 15.

As the 2019 season started, he managed to sack Aaron Rodgers once during the face-off against Green Bay Packers during the first week. Alas, the Bears suffered a 10-3 defeat. In the fourth week, he sacked Kirk Cousins 1.5 times, contributing to the Bears’ victorious 16-6 score against the Minnesota Vikings.

On March 13, 2020, the Bears placed a second-round restricted free agent tender on Robertson-Harris, who then officially signed the tender on April 15. Unfortunately, the same year, on November 9, it was revealed that Robertson-Harris was slated for a season-ending shoulder surgery. He had missed the Bears’s week 9 contest against the Tennessee Titans and was placed on injured reserve on November 12, 2020.

On March 17, 2021, his career experienced another upward shift when Robertson-Harris signed a three-year, $23.4 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. On October 2, 2022, he exhibited an impressive display, achieving nine total tackles and a tackle for loss during a 29-21 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Keeping faith in his talent and acknowledging his potential, the Jaguars signed another three-year agreement worth $30 million with Robertson-Harris on February 25, 2023, assuring his continued association with the team through the 2026 season.

The pinnacle of his career, so far, came on October 14, 2024, when Robertson-Harris was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
