Ross Pierschbacher's Biography

Born on June 5, 1995, Ross Pierschbacher is a renowned figure in American professional football, celebrated mainly as a highly skilled offensive guard. He began his football career in college, playing for Alabama’s Crimson Tide, and his talent and dedication to the game soon led to selection by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the esteemed 2019 NFL draft. However, Pierschbacher’s journey towards this great achievement was anything but straightforward.

Originally, he had committed to play at the University of Iowa, known for its Hawkeyes football team. But in a surprising twist, Pierschbacher shifted his commitment from Iowa to Alabama and enrolled in January 2014, a move that would mark a pivotal change in his football career trajectory.

At Alabama, Pierschbacher wasted no time in making his prowess known. He started as a guard in his redshirt freshman year and remained a starter throughout all four seasons. His commitment to the sport was evident in every game – culminating in a total of 57 career starts and even playing center in his senior year. His exceptional skills caught the attention of the selectors, and he was named an All-Southeastern Conference player in his last three seasons. After being waived on September 5, 2020, he was signed to their practice squad a day later. He had a taste of the active roster on November 7 during the team’s Week 9 game against the New York Giants but returned to the practice squad immediately after.

In December 2020, Pierschbacher’s career took him to a new team, the Philadelphia Eagles, signing him off from Washington’s practice squad. But just as he was settling into the Eagles, he was waived on August 31, 2021, only to be re-signed to their practice squad the next day. However, his tenure with the Eagles was short-lived – he was released on September 9, 2021.

Pierschbacher’s career then took him to the New York Jets. Signed on to their practice squad on September 10, 2021, he cemented his future with them, signing a reserve contract on January 10, 2022. But once again, he found himself waived on August 30, 2022.

On September 8, 2022, Pierschbacher found new life with the Detroit Lions, joining their practice squad. He managed to secure a place on the active roster on December 10, finally getting a chance to show his mettle on the field. Pierschbacher played three games with the Lions during the 2022 season and even re-signed with them on March 8, 2023.

However, Pierschbacher was waived due to injury on August 13. After a brief pause in his career, he returned to the field, this time with the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad on November 13, 2023. Unfortunately, he was released on December 7, marking the most recent chapter in Pierschbacher’s career.
