Rashad Weaver's Biography

Rashad Capone Weaver, a talented American football linebacker, was born on November 10, 1997. Currently, he shines under the spotlight as a professional player for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL). Although he started his sports journey at a young age, his football career began in earnest when he played college football for the University of Pittsburgh.

Born into the family of Autumn DeLaPorte and Nevin Weaver, Rashad was the middle child, growing up amidst the care and camaraderie of his two sisters. The family lived in Cooper City, Florida, where Rashad completed his schooling. He was a student at Cooper City High School, where his passion for football first started to take shape.

While in school, Weaver was a force to reckon with, on the football field where he played as both a defensive end and tight end. This dominant display of skill and prowess on the football field led him to initially commit to the University of Michigan to further his budding football career. However, after careful deliberation, he decided to change his commitment to the University of Pittsburgh.

Walking onto the university’s football field in 2016, he redshirted his first year, preparing himself for the intense games that were to follow. The next year, his professional career began in earnest as he played 12 games and made five impressive starts. He ended the season with a commendable set of stats – 28 tackles and three sacks, setting the stage for his future rise.

In 2018, he further upped his ante, starting all 14 games. He recorded 47 tackles and once again proved to be a team leader with 6.5 sacks. Unfortunate circumstances befell him the next year when he tore his ACL and missed the 2019 season. However, showing immense grit and determination, he healed and returned for his senior season in 2020.

His years at the University of Pittsburgh were not just about football. Rashad also focused on his academics, earning a Bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Business Information Systems (BBIS) and finance. Following this, he pursued further studies at Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Business.

Having built a strong foundation in both sports and academics, the next big thing in Weaver’s life was the 2021 NFL Draft. He was picked by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round, the 135th pick overall. He signed a promising four-year rookie contract with Tennessee on June 10, 2021. However, his journey with the Titans was cut short due to injury, and he had to be placed on the injured reserve on September 28, 2021.

The 2024 season marked another major shift in Weaver’s career trajectory. He was waived by the Titans on August 28, 2024, which seemed like a significant setback. But Weaver stood undeterred. On September 2, 2024, he was signed to the Houston Texans practice squad, where he worked fervently to prove his worth. His determination and hard work soon paid off as he got promoted to the active roster on September 11. Now, he continues his journey in the NFL, playing as a linebacker for the Houston Texans, proving that perseverance and dedication truly lead to success.
