Racey McMath's Biography

Racey James McMath, an accomplished professional footballer, was born on June 14, 1999, to his proud parents, Pam and James McMath. His parents named him “Racey,” a unique choice inspired by his constant movements during his mother’s pregnancy. Pam recalls explaining their decision, stating, “It felt like he was just racing in my stomach, so we said, ‘ok, that’s going to be his name – let’s call him Racey.’ ”

Racey McMath’s journey to professional football began in his college years. He leaped to prominence as a wide receiver at Louisiana State University, often referred to as LSU. His exceptional performances caught the attention of those beyond the campus and served as a testament to his potential.

In the 2021 NFL draft, McMath was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round, marking a noteworthy milestone in his career. The Titans demonstrated their confidence in him as the 205th overall pick, a decision that intensified McMath’s aspirations to excel at the professional level.

The Titans’ faith in McMath was promptly repaid when he officially signed his four-year rookie contract with the team on May 17, 2021. He was eventually signed to the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts on August 31, 2023. However, this stint was a brief one, as McMath was released on October 17, 2023. Despite the back-and-forth between teams, McMath remained undeterred. He ultimately signed onto the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on January 4, 2024. Moreover, showing his rising importance in the squad, he signed a reserve/future contract on January 15, 2024.

As a testament to the unpredictable nature of professional sports, McMath faced yet another unexpected curveball. He was waived by the Dallas Cowboys on August 27, 2024.
