Morgan Cox's Biography

Morgan Cox, born on April 26, 1986, is a distinguished American professional football player, expressing his proficiency as a long snapper for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). His football journey began during his college years as he played for the Tennessee Volunteers, and his talent did not go unnoticed as he was ultimately signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent after the 2010 NFL draft.

Interestingly, Cox was not an initial recruit but a walk-on for the Tennessee Volunteers football team. Exhibiting the skillset of an adept long snapper, he managed to earn a scholarship before the commencement of the 2008 season. His subsequent years with the Volunteers further solidified his position as Cox served as the starting long snapper for the team during the 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons.

More than just an athletic participant, he also proved to be a scholar, earning Academic All-SEC honors consecutively from 2006 to 2009. His esteemed performance called for an invitation to participate in the renowned 2010 Senior Bowl, hosting the best college players on January 30, 2010.

Post the Senior Bowl, Cox was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens on May 6, 2010. Soon after, he earned the starting long snapper position when the team relieved Matt Katula of his duties on August 14, 2010. His crowning moment with the Ravens came during the 2012 Super Bowl XLVII, where they emerged victorious against the San Francisco 49ers on February 3, 2013.

The launch of the 2013 season witnessed Cox recover a punt fumbled by Wes Welker in a game against the Denver Broncos. However, the same year presented a significant challenge as Cox tore his ACL during a face-off with the Atlanta Falcons on October 19, 2014. He was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve, and his absence led to Kevin McDermott taking over his responsibilities for the remainder of the season.

Regardless, Cox displayed impressive resilience as he bounced back from the injury and resumed his long snapping duties for the 2015 season, teaming up with the punter Sam Koch. His robust performance made way for a five-year extension on his contract with the Ravens, which he signed on March 7, 2016. He then bagged the Pro Bowl for a second consecutive season in 2016, followed by a third one in 2019.

Despite a short hiatus in 2020 due to being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Cox recorded a proud moment as he earned his fourth Pro Bowl nomination that year, turning heads as the first-ever long snapper selected to first-team All-Pro. However, on January 25, 2021, the Ravens announced that they would be moving forward with Nick Moore and would not be re-signing Cox.

Steering towards a promising direction, on March 18, 2021, Cox penned a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. Following his commendable performance, the team re-signed him on March 10, 2022. His success story in the new setup continued as he was named to the Pro Bowl for his 2022 season. He again re-signed on a one-year contract on March 10, 2023, and forth on March 7, 2024.
