Monty Rice's Biography

Montavian Lamar Rice-Jordan, known more commonly as Monty, was born on the 8th of January, 1999 and has managed to solidify his place as a significant talent in the American professional football sphere. Rice-Jordan currently serves as a linebacker for the esteemed franchise, the Atlanta Falcons, plying his trade in the high-profile arena of the National Football League (NFL). Before his stint with the Falcons, Rice-Jordan had lent his skills to the Tennessee Titans, furthering his reputation within the NFL.

Rice-Jordan’s journey to the NFL began in Alabama, where he attended St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Huntsville during his freshman years. The future sportsman was not long for this school though, opting to transfer to James Clemens High School in Madison, Alabama, for the last three years of his high-school education. Rice-Jordan’s senior year saw him achieving impressive stats, with a commendable record of 137 tackles, one sack, and four touchdowns, apiece.

Rice-Jordan had initially decided on Louisiana State University (LSU) to further his education and continue his football passion in collegiate sports. The LSU, however, was soon replaced by the reputable University of Georgia, where Rice-Jordan finally decided to pursue his college football dream.

His freshman year in 2017 saw him play in 14 games with one start and attain an admirable 22 tackles. His sophomore year saw even more improvement, with Rice-Jordan starting five out of nine games and notching up 59 tackles and a sack. His excellent performance continued into his junior year in 2019 where he started all 14 games and was awarded the Vince Dooley Defensive MVP, an accolade earned, no doubt, from leading the team with 89 tackles that season. In 2020, Rice-Jordan declined to enter the NFL draft, choosing instead to finish his senior season with Georgia.

In the 2021 NFL draft, he was selected in the third round, landing the 92nd overall spot by the Tennessee Titans. Upon his selection, Rice-Jordan promptly signed his first professional contract on July 24, 2021; a four-year rookie agreement with the Titans.

He began his rookie season as a backup inside linebacker, playing behind three notable players – Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown, and David Long Jr. Following an ankle injury in the 12th week of the season, he was unfortunately placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

The following year, mired in injury recovery, Rice-Jordan was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list on July 23, 2022. After time on the reserve list, he was reactivated on October 8. However, his time with the Titans concluded with a release from the team on December 5, 2023.

The talented linebacker was not left unclaimed for long. The New Orleans Saints picked him off waivers the very next day, where he was signed to their active roster. His stint with the Saints proved brief. Waived on August 27, 2024, Rice-Jordan was scooped up by the Atlanta Falcons just three days later and signed to their practice squad.

Today, Montavian Lamar Rice-Jordan continues his journey in the upper echelons of American professional football, demonstrating a level of play and a dedication that sets him apart. His journey is testament not only to his talent but also to his perseverance in the face of difficulty, and his conviction to continually strive for excellence, both on the field and off.
