Logan Woodside's Biography

Logan Miles Woodside, born on January 27, 1995, is a renowned American professional football player, currently playing as a quarterback for the National Football League’s (NFL) Cincinnati Bengals. Woodside’s journey in professional football began when he was selected by the same team in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft following a rewarding college football career with the Toledo Rockets. Previously, Woodside was a member of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons, as well as the San Antonio Commanders, representing the Alliance of American Football (AAF).

Woodside’s first career breakthrough came in 2014 after a career-injury to Phillip Ely. The quarterback played 11 games that season, notably recording 322 yards and three touchdowns during his season opener against Cincinnati on September 12. Over consecutive weeks, he ran and threw numerous touchdowns against Ball State and Central Michigan, later replicating this intensity against UMass and Kent State. Closing the season with a personal-best five touchdowns against Eastern Michigan, Woodside led Toledo to a remarkable shared victory for the MAC West title, ranking fourth in passing efficiency and completion percentage in the MAC.

The next season, Woodside redshirted to allow Ely’s return. In 2016, however, he proved his mettle, winning the starter’s job against competitors Michael Julian and Mitch Guadagni. His stellar performances throughout the season, including a school-record 505 yards and five touchdowns against BYU and a successful 28-point comeback against Northern Illinois, earned him the title of MAC West Division Player and Male Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Despite a loss at the Camellia Bowl, Woodside finished the season with an impressive 4,129 yards, 45 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, securing a place on the First-team All-MAC. He carried this momentum into 2017, where he not only set multiple personal records but also broke Bruce Gradkowski’s school record with a career total passing of 10,083 yards, marking the first time in school history the 10,000-yard mark was broken. His leadership led the Toledo Rockets to the MAC Football Championship for the first time since 2004.

In 2018, Woodside’s NFL career took off when the Cincinnati Bengals drafted him, although he was waived that same year. His dedication kept him afloat as he joined the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans later that year, followed by a spell with the San Antonio Commanders in the AAF, where his contribution helped the team secure a win over the Arizona Hotshots. Following the AAF’s suspension, Woodside returned to the Titans in 2019, playing a year before signing a reserve/future contract with the team in 2020.

In 2022, Woodside switched to the Atlanta Falcons after being waived by the Titans, and his form never wavered. In 2024, Woodside returned to the Cincinnati Bengals where he continues to play as of this writing.

Outside the field, Woodside’s father, Jason Woodside, who played safety for Eastern Kentucky University from 1992 to 1995, has been a significant influence. However, Woodside’s career wasn’t without controversy. In 2018, he was arrested for a DUI and speeding in Bellevue, Kentucky, notwithstanding the incident, his career has continued to flourish, reaffirming his position as one of the leading quarterbacks in the NFL.
