Born on July 28th, 1995, Logan Edward Cooke is an acclaimed American professional football punter, currently playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL). His journey to becoming an NFL star began in his hometown of Columbia, Mississippi, where he honed his high school football skills at Columbia Academy. Even from these humble beginnings, it was clear that Cooke was a force to be reckoned with in football, especially in punting.

Spurred by this natural aptitude, Cooke soon found himself entertaining offers from notable colleges, including Southern Miss and Mississippi State. After careful consideration, Cooke decided to attend Mississippi State, ultimately setting the stage for his remarkable stint in college football. It was here that he strengthened his punting techniques, while simultaneously growing his reputation as a formidable player.

Cooke’s tenure at Mississippi State stretched from 2014 to 2017, distinguished by his impressive performance in 150 punts that garnered 6,250 net yards, for an average of 41.7 yards. These early accomplishments not only highlighted his capabilities as a punter but also earned him considerable attention from the NFL.

In the 2018 NFL draft, Cooke’s talents saw him selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who took him in the seventh round (247th overall). Embarking on his NFL career, Cooke made his league debut in the Jaguars’ season opener against the New York Giants. He demonstrated his capabilities by contributing seven punts to the team’s 20-15 victory, amounting to 264 net yards. This impressive show was only the beginning of Cooke’s burgeoning NFL career, as he finished his rookie season with an impressive 86 punts for 3,872 net yards, resulting in a 45.02 average.

Come 2019, Cooke continued to consolidate his position in the NFL. He successfully completed 75 punts throughout the season, maintaining an average of 46.76 yards.

In 2020, despite the global chaos ensuing from the COVID-19 pandemic, Cooke continued his craft, even while facing personal setbacks. He was temporarily placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Jaguars on December 21, 2020. However, he made a triumphant return on December 31, punctuating the 2020 season with 56 punts, each averaging 47.66 yards.

By March 20, 2021, the Jaguars demonstrated their faith in Cooke’s superior punting abilities by extending his contract for another four years for a substantial $12 million. Continuing to earn his keep, Cooke punted 64 times in the 2021 season, maintaining a steady average of 47.28 yards.

Despite the inevitable ups and downs of any professional athletic career, Cooke saw consistent improvement in his performances. In 2022, he achieved an even higher average of 49.34 yards over 58 punts. By the 2023 season, he progressed in his career further, punting 61 times for a total of 2,893 yards and impressive average of 47.43 yards.
