Lewis Cine's Biography
Lewis Tom Cine, known professionally as Cine, was born on October 5, 1999, in Haiti. As an important figure in the National Football League (NFL), Cine’s exceptional talent has always been admired. His longstanding association with football started at a young age and continued to grow throughout his high school and college career. Today, he is recognized as an energetic safety professional for the Buffalo Bills, with a rich and rewarding career in the field of football.
Cine had to overcome numerous challenges from an early age. Immigrating to the United States at just four years old, his family initially settled in Florida before relocating to Everett, Massachusetts. His first taste of the American educational system was Everett High School, and it was there that he discovered his passion for football.
Proving his worth on the football field, he was rewarded during his junior year when he was named the Massachusetts Defensive Player of the Year by USA Today. His impressive performance included 65 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick that propelled his team to a second consecutive MIAA state championship.
When his coach at Everett announced his retirement after the season, Cine moved to Cedar Hill, Texas, to live with an uncle and attend Trinity Christian School for his senior year. His talents continued to flourish under the guidance of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders. His dedication didn’t go unnoticed; he was provided opportunities to join college football teams in Texas, Michigan, Penn State, and Florida, but ultimately committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.
Cine played in all 14 of Georgia’s games during his freshman season, notably starting the final two. He was chosen as a starting safety for the Bulldogs team at the beginning of his sophomore season. That year, he broke records with 49 tackles and 12 passes broken up over ten starts but faced criticism after being ejected from a game against Florida due to a targeting penalty. Nonetheless, Cine remained undeterred in his quest for a professional football career and declared for the 2022 NFL draft.
His big break came in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft when he was chosen with the 32nd overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings. Although his rookie season was hampered by a compound fracture injury to his lower left leg, requiring two surgeries, his determination to excel at the sport remained steadfast.
After his contract with the Vikings was not renewed in 2024, Cine became a free agent. His perseverance paid off when he was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad later that year; an affirmation of his skill and unwavering dedication towards his career.
Beyond the football field, Cine’s life is also marked by personal milestones. A doting father, his bundle of joy is a daughter named Bella, who was born in 2017. Despite his demanding career, Cine has learned to strike a balance between his professional responsibilities and his equally important role as a father.
Always pushing ahead with tenacity and resilience, Lewis Tom Cine’s story is an inspiring tale of a boy originally from Haiti who dreamt of playing football and went on to make his mark in American football history.
