Lawrence Cager, an American professional football tight end, was born on August 20, 1997. Presently, he stands as a free agent. Cager’s journey in football started in high school and carried on to his professional career in the National Football League (NFL). His career is notable for his outstanding performances in various games and the skills he brought to different teams.

Cager attended Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland, where he showcased his talent in their high school football team. His remarkable performances earned him the ranking of being a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, thrusting him into the national spotlight. He continued his path in football by playing college football, first at Miami (FL), and later, at the University of Georgia.

While studying at Miami, Cager had 45 receptions for 681 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns in his three seasons. He then transferred to Georgia for his senior season, finishing his lone year there with 33 receptions for 476 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

In May 2020, after the end of the 2020 NFL draft, Cager joined the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. Although initially waived on September 5, 2020, he re-signed with the team’s practice squad the next day. On September 26, he was included on the active roster for the team’s week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts. During this game, he made a career milestone by making his NFL debut and recording two receptions for 35 yards.

After a brief stint with the Jets, Lawrence Cager moved to the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad on October 4, 2021. Approximately a month later, on November 20, 2021, he was elevated to their active roster and later promoted to the active roster on December 16. However, he was waived on December 24, and re-signed to the Browns’ practice squad on December 28, 2021.

Cager got another opportunity in the team when the Giants re-signed him on a one-year contract on March 13, 2024. Yet, Cager dealt with a few temporary drawbacks when he was waived on August 27, and then re-signed to the practice squad, only to be released on October 1.
