Kwamie Lassiter II's Biography

Kwamie Lassiter II, born on January 21, 1998, is a gifted American professional football player specializing as a wide receiver. Known for his exceptional skill on the football field, he currently holds the status of a free agent. Although now a professional, his journey started at the college level, where he showcased his talent for the Kansas Jayhawks. As an exceptional player, Lassiter was signed undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022, further solidifying his reputation in the world of American football.

During his five seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks, Lassiter displayed admirable talent and skill. He caught 148 passes, covering a remarkable distance of 1,550 yards and securing seven touchdowns. His remarkable performance didn’t go unnoticed; he was honored twice with All-Big 12 mentions, proving himself as an invaluable asset to his team.

However, despite his success in college football, Lassiter surprisingly went undrafted during the 2022 NFL Draft. He did not remain overlooked for long, though. The Cincinnati Bengals, recognizing the exceptional talent he had displayed at Kansas, promptly signed him on May 13, 2022. Ironically, he was released during final roster cuts on August 30 of the same year. However, his removal was short-lived, as he was re-signed to the team’s practice squad the very next day.

While on the practice squad, Lassiter continued to display his formidable skill, eventually earning a place on the active roster November 26, 2022. During the Week 12 game against the Tennessee Titans, Lassiter was elevated to the active roster and reappeared on the field to demonstrate his ability.

As the Bengals continued to recognize his potential, Lassiter was awarded a reserve/future contract with the team on January 31, 2023. However, fate took an unexpected turn that August, when he was waived by the Bengals and then, in a repeated event, re-signed to the practice squad the next day. It wasn’t until October 7, 2023, during the Bengals Week 5 game against the Arizona Cardinals, that Lassiter had a chance to elevate from the practice squad. This game was only his second in his nascent NFL career.

While playing against the Arizona Cardinals, the team his father had represented for eight seasons, Lassiter made his first career reception in the game – a two-yard catch. Although he was reverted back to the practice squad following this game, Lassiter’s journey didn’t end there.

On January 8, 2024, Lassiter was once again signed by the Bengals to a reserve/future contract. However, on August 23, he was unfortunately released once again, marking a cycle of highs and lows throughout this season.

Football runs deep within the Lassiter family’s veins. Kwamie Lassiter II was named after his late father, Kwamie Lassiter, a former NFL player with ten seasons under his belt, predominantly with the Cardinals. His two younger brothers, Kwinton and Darius, continue the family legacy with their involvement in college football at at Kansas and Brigham Young University, respectively. Lassiter’s sister, Darian made a name for herself as a member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, showcasing the love of sports deeply ingrained within the family.
