Kristian Fulton

Kristian Michael Shaw Fulton, born on the 3rd of September 1998, is a profoundly talented American professional football player renowned in the National Football League (NFL) as a prominent cornerback for the Los Angeles Chargers. Fashioned into who he is today by an intriguing journey through the sport, Fulton brings to the table extensive experience, fortified further by his formative years playing college football at Louisiana State University (LSU). Adding to his impressive portfolio of achievements, the once college star Fulton was selected in a prestigious round by the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL draft.

Football has been an important part of Fulton’s life right from his early years. Born into the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, his entire upbringing cultivated his skills in football. His school years at Archbishop Rummel High School, supplemented with track running, were memorable, as he showcased his prowess in the sport at a young age. Fulton received the title of New Orleans area’s top Defensive Player of the Year by The New Orleans Advocate during his Junior year, a time when he bagged an impressive 11 interceptions, 27 tackles, and eight passes defended, despite missing three games due to an unfortunate injury.

As a senior, Fulton solidified his promising football career. He was honored as a first-team Class 5A All-State player and received an invitation to play in the much-lauded 2016 Under Armour All-America Game. Highly rated as a five-star recruit by 247 Sports, and given a four-star rating by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN, Fulton was considered a consensus top-5 prospect in his position. He stayed committed to his home state, electing to play college football at Louisiana State University, picking it over Florida and Arkansas.

The early years of Fulton’s college career were marked with challenges. After appearing in three games as a freshman and making two tackles, he was handed a two-season suspension by the NCAA for tampering with a drug test for performance-enhancing drugs in February 2017. However, he persevered, remaining committed to the team and his training while dealing with the repercussions.

His time on the sidelines ended in 2018. Despite not having played a game for 18 months, Fulton entered his Junior year as a starter, proving his mettle and dedication to the sport. His season was cut short by an ankle injury, but not before making a remarkable impact with numerous tackles, an interception, and several passes defended.

His senior year was a successful period, as Fulton was distinctly recognized as a preseason All-American by the Associated Press and named USA Today’s third-best defensive back in the nation. His consistent performance greatly contributed to LSU’s triumphant 2020 National Championship win.

In 2020, Fulton joined the Tennessee Titans as their 61st overall pick, in the second round of the NFL draft. After signing his four-year rookie contract, he made his NFL debut, demonstrating his undeniable skillset with multiple tackles, an interception, and even his first career sack.

However, as in any sport, Fulton’s career saw its share of setbacks, including a knee injury and a positive COVID-19 diagnosis that sidelined him for periods. Yet, he returned stronger every time, boasting an indomitable spirit.

In 2024, Fulton’s journey took him to the Los Angeles Chargers, where he’s currently a valued team player. Dealing with a recurring hamstring injury, Fulton hasn’t let it undermine his performance.
