Kevon Seymour's Biography

Kevon Seymour, born on November 30, 1993, is an accomplished professional American football cornerback presently signed with the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). His journey in professional football has involved stints with several reputed teams including the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Baltimore Ravens, marking a career rich in experience and lessons.

Seymour’s love for the sport was nurtured at the University of Southern California (USC) where he played college football with great determination and skill. Proudly sporting his USC jersey for four seasons, Seymour successfully recorded 126 tackles, marked by 4 for a loss, and proved his defensive prowess with 19 pass deflections. Opportunely, he also recovered a fumble while intercepting the ball three times during this period. Notably, Seymour was a stand-out performer from the start, playing as a true freshman in 2012 in the roles of a backup cornerback and a significant contributor to the special teams.

The sophomore year saw Seymour’s role augment greatly as he started in 12 games. However, in his senior year, despite his proven abilities, injuries limited his plays on the field. Undeterred by this setback, Seymour demonstrated an outstanding performance in the 2016 NFL draft where he was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round as the 218th overall choice. His rookie year saw him playing in 15 games, commencing three, with a recorded total of 22 tackles and three passes defense.

In 2017, Seymour’s career took another big leap as he was traded to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for wide receiver Kaelin Clay. But, misfortune in the form of injuries plagued him again, leading to his placement on injured reserve in 2018. The following year he was released by the Panthers and, after a brief break from professional football in 2019, Seymour found himself working for a tire store in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Responding to the call of the field, Seymour returned to professional football in December 2020 by signing with the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles. Within days, he moved up to the active roster only to be placed on injured reserve. In early 2021, he was waived from the injured reserve but was promptly offered a reserve/futures contract by the team. Unfortunately, his stint with the Eagles ended when he was waived in August 2021.

Seymour quickly found a new home in the Baltimore Ravens, joining their practice squad in September 2021. His performance earned him a promotion to the active roster followed by an elevation back to the practice squad. Throughout the year, he navigated between the active roster and the practice squad, until the COVID-19 pandemic forced him into reserve. After recovery, Seymour was again activated by the Ravens and was even given a one-year contract extension in 2022. Though he was released later that year, he was signed back to the practice squad and elevated to the active roster.

His journey in the NFL soon brought him to the Washington Commanders, signing with their practice squad in September 2024. Seymour’s professional career exemplifies resilience, dedication, and a deep love for the game of football. His journey across different teams in the NFL act as testament to his abilities as a competitive cornerback and his determination to succeed.
