Born on December 22, 1998, Kendrick Green has carved out a promising career as a seasoned football guard in America. Currently playing his trade for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL), he has demonstrated exceptional talent and enduring resilience in his professional journey, which offsets in the heartland of Illinois, where he was born and raised.

During his youth in Peoria, Illinois, Green attended Peoria High School and quickly developed an affinity for sports. Not only was he a part of the school’s baseball and wrestling teams, but he also showcased his skills as an eager player on the football squad. The latter proved paramount as it led him to unforgettable success as a senior; he demonstrated his mettle by capturing 113 tackles, causing 33 losses, and finishing with an exceptional record of 15 sacks and four forced fumbles, contributing greatly to Peoria’s victory in the 2016 IHSA 5A state championship. Subsequently, he was named first-team All-State that year, cementing his status as a rising star in football.

This early success led him to choose college football at Illinois over an offer from Iowa. Green’s freshman season saw a pivotal change in his chosen football position, changing from defensive tackle to the offensive line. Despite this transposition, he quickly adapted and started all 12 of Illinois’ games as a left guard in his redshirt freshman season. Once more, his adaptability and skill didn’t go unnoticed; he started every game in the same position in his second season and received the honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference and by Pro Football Focus (PFF) as an All-American.

His success continued into his redshirt junior year, where he began to diversify his positions on the field by playing three games at center and five as a guard amidst the shortened 2020 Big Ten season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, Green gained first-team All-Big Ten and a second-team All-American recognition by USA Today. By this point, Green decided to renounce his senior season to participate in the crucial 2021 NFL draft.

His decision paid off as he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the 87th pick in the third round. Green signed his four-year rookie contract in July 2021. Already, he was poised to make a significant impact, going into organized team activities and starting his first NFL training camp as the Steelers’ senior center.

As his career rolled into the NFL season, Green continued to make significant strides on the field. He was seen in action in 95% of the offensive plays in Week 1, 100% in Week 2, and 89% in Week 3. From Weeks 4-15, he participated in every offensive play, resulting in an impressive inaugural season despite suffering an injury during Week 16, which sadly forced him out of the final two games.

In his second season with the Steelers, Green transitioned from center to guard. Despite not winning the left guard position against Kevin Dotson in the preseason, Green maintained his place on the team’s active roster throughout the year. He was, however, not selected to play in the season’s 17 games.

In a surprising turn of events on August 29, 2023, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Green to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round draft pick. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn meniscus in Week 4 of his tenure with the Texans, that resulted in him being placed on injured reserve.
