Joseph Noteboom, born June 19, 1995, is an outstanding figure and consummate professional in the world of American football. As an offensive tackle, he is a member of the Los Angeles Rams, one of the most distinguished teams in the National Football League (NFL). Raised in Plano, Texas, and an alumnus of Texas Christian University (TCU), Noteboom has shown commendable consistency in the sport. Born and raised in Plano, Texas, Noteboom was an active and athletic child right from his early years. He attended Plano Senior High School, where he displayed an excellent aptitude towards sports. He played both football and ice hockey, showcasing a robust physical presence and tenacity in both sports. It was before his senior year that he devoted his future path to football when he verbally committed to Texas Christian University, and went on to earn All-District honors for the Wildcats during his senior year.

After high school, Noteboom made his way to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. His first season in the TCU football program saw him fitting into the team as a redshirt. By 2014, he had established his spot in the team, playing as a reserve in 13 games. The following season, he rose to the position of the Horned Frogs’ starting right tackle. His performances consistently improved over his junior and senior seasons, during which he capably handled the position of left tackle.

An important highlight of Noteboom’s college career was when he participated in his 40th consecutive game for TCU. In his final game, the team saw a victory against Stanford in the much sought-after 2017 Alamo Bowl.

As he entered his senior year, naming himself a candidate for the NFL draft, Noteboom was invited and accepted the invitation to participate in the Senior Bowl. By exhibiting his extraordinary skills, agility, and versatility at the Bowl practices, he managed to impress the scouts and significantly elevated his draft stock. The 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl saw Noteboom excelling in his performance, aiding the South team to a 45-16 victory, which was supervised by the Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien.

To further his chances in the NFL draft, Noteboom participated in the NFL Scouting Combine, remaining consistent through all the drills. His performance, punctuated by his striking 40-yard dash time, was well-received by the experts. He also participated in the Pro Day at TCU but decided not to try and improve upon his combine numbers. His rankings among NFL draft experts saw him in the top-ten offensive tackles, and projected him as a third-round pick.

Following the anticipation, the Los Angeles Rams selected Noteboom in the third round (89th overall) of the 2018 NFL draft, solidifying his position among the top offensive tackles of the year. On June 9, 2018, he signed a four-year contract with the Rams, worth $3.45 million, including a signing bonus of $818,892.

Noteboom’s rookie year found him in a backup position, waiting in the wings for his chance on the field. In the 2019 season, he was finally named the starting left guard, however, an ACL and MCL tear in Week 6 put him on a season-ending injured reserve.

The year 2020 saw a recurring pattern, where Noteboom was named starting left guard, but was bumped to injured reserves due to a calf injury. Upon recovery, he continued with active gaming until 2021, a glorious year when the Rams took home the win in the Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals.

In March 2022, Noteboom signed a three-year, $40 million contract extension with the Rams. However, an Achilles tendon tear in Week 6 saw him placed on the injured reserve list again. Despite this, 2023 saw Noteboom recovering and appearing in 14 games, with 8 consecutive starts.

Unfortunately, in September 2024, Noteboom was once again put on the injured reserve list owing to an ankle injury suffered in the Week 1 loss against the Detroit Lions. Despite these setbacks, his resilience remains commendable as does his commitment to the sport. Undeniably, Noteboom has left a significant mark on the football field, projecting a promising future as a monumental figure in the sport.
