As he moved into his senior year, Jermar was presented with an offer from Oregon State University (OSU). He also received an offer to showcase his football prowess at the esteemed University of Southern California. However, he chose to commit to OSU where he began his university life in 2018.

As a freshman, he made a striking debut as the school’s leading running back in 2018. In his second game, Jermar rushed a staggering 238 yards bringing victory to OSU by a score of 48-25 against Southern Utah. The feather on the cap came with his career-high rush of 254 yards, despite their shortcoming in the match against Arizona State by a spree of 52-24. By the time the freshman season reached midway, Jermar held the third position among all Division I FBS players with a mammoth 865 rushing yards to his name. The close of the season was marked with an impressive record of twelve touchdown runs, a magnificent 1,380 rushing yards, and the honor of being named Pac-12 freshman offensive player of the year.

The following season of 2019 saw Jermar return to the Beavers for his sophomore year. He registered a commendable performance, rushing for 685 yards along with eight touchdowns. As the year 2020 rolled in, so did Jefferson’s junior year at OSU. He marked the end of the season with 858 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns despite appearing in only six matches. He once again signed a reserve/future contract on January 30, 2024.

However, the unseen road of the future remained as volatile as ever. On August 27, 2024, Jefferson was once again waived but immediately re-signed into the practice squad of the Lions.
