Jerick McKinnon is an NFL running back who currently plays for the San Francisco 49ers. He was born in Marietta, Georgia and attended Sprayberry High School in Atlanta. During his high school career he played football, basketball and track & field. In college, he attended Georgia Southern University and majored in exercise science where he set several of the schools records for rushing yards, touchdowns, all-purpose yards and receiving yards as a quarterback before switching to running back his senior season which led to being drafted into the NFL by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014.

As a rookie with Minnesota, Jerick had an impressive first season returning kickoffs and playing on special teams while also contributing on offense at times throughout the season. After three seasons with Minnesota he signed a four year contract with San Francisco where he has become one of their primary offensive weapons as they have made it to Super Bowl LIV during his time there. In 2019 Jerick rushed for nearly 1,000 yards making him just one of 11 players from that season to do so earning him Pro Football Focus’s Breakout Player of The Year Award for 2019 following up again in 2020 leading San Francisco’s backfield ranking third among all rushers with 521 yard despite having only 8 starts due to injury that limited most of his year showing resiliency off the field as well facing adversity not only physically but emotionally when losing out on many starting opportunities due to Covid Quarantine protocols set by league rules giving way opportunities for other backs such as Raheem Mostert or Tevin Coleman depth chart wise when healthy or eligible Jerick remains starter material constantly proving himself every chance given through versatility even opening day 2020 against Arizona Cardinals lining up at wide receiver multiple times outside at flanker showcasing his athleticism further displaying why San Francisco kept faith trusting their 4th round draft choice over 6 years ago still holds true this day!

Off the field ,Jerick is heavily involved with charities such as “Team Smile USA” aiming towards providing oral health care access across America while always giving back investing into future generations youth football programs across country paying it forward within communities no matter city size or region . All these reasons put together give evidence why Jerick McKinnon will continue leaving lasting impressions both on and off field whether seen now or later down line either way its inspiring seeing someone like him succeeding while staying grounded .
