Jason Huntley's Biography

Jason Kiree Huntley, an American professional football running back, was born on the 20th of April 1998. Throughout his career, he has been engaged in numerous sports engagements among which the most notable is his time spent as a free agent and his performance in the American college football games for the New Mexico State Aggies. Following his time at the New Mexico state, he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft as the 172nd overall pick by Detroit Lions, marking the onset of his professional career.

With his roots in Arlington, Texas, Huntley attended Martin High School where he played football although he was not considered to be a superstar recruit during his early days. Nevertheless, he showed persistent dedication towards the sport, leading to his commitment to the New Mexico State. During the year 2018, he managed to achieve commendable feats having returned three kickoffs for touchdowns.

In an impressive run in the year 2019, he managed to score big with 1,090 yards (7.1 yards per carry) with nine touchdowns, and an additional 1,119 receiving yards. His performance showcasing his increasing skills left an indelible mark on the evaluators, subsequently leading to his selection by the Detroit Lions in the following year.

The summer of 2020 brought new beginnings for Huntley as he got signed to the Detroit Lions on July 13, under a four-year contract. However, his stint with the Lions was relatively short as he was let go during the final roster cuts on September 5, 2020.

The very next day on September 6, 2020, Huntley was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles. The inaugural week saw him debut against the Washington Football Team where he managed a rushing attempt for 1 yard. Throughout the rest of the season, he played in five games wherein he rushed five times for a total of 19 yards and had one reception for zero yards.

Unexpectedly, Huntley was let go by the Eagles on August 31, 2021, but he promptly bounced back when he was re-signed to the practice squad as of the next day. Eventually, on the 10th of January 2022, he was officially placed on the active roster, though his tenure would end with his release on August 30.

Undeterred amidst the ups and downs of his career, Huntley continued to persevere and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad as of September 2, 2022. The Steelers, entrusting him with a reserve/future contract, signed him on January 10, 2023, although the journey with the team ended with his release on August 1, 2023.

Less than a couple of weeks later, Huntley rose to action once again, this time with the Indianopolis Colts with whom he signed on August 9, 2023. However, this fleeting experience ended with him being waived on August 29, 2023 and subsequently re-signed to the practice squad. Unfortunately, his stint didn’t last long and he was released again on the 12th of September.

Through the length of this journey, Jason Huntley, with undeterred determination, has proven his skills and dedication to the game, shaping himself into a commendable football running back.
