Jarrick Bernard-Converse, born on April 29, 2000, is a prominent figure in American professional football. Plying his trade as a corner-back, he currently lends his exceptional skills to the New York Jets, one of the teams in the National Football League (NFL). Before he cemented his place in the NFL, Bernard-Converse showcased his talent in college football, representing both Oklahoma State and the Louisiana State University (LSU) in his successful collegiate career.

Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Bernard-Converse’s journey to the pinnacle of professional sport began at a young age. He pursued his early education at the Evangel Christian Academy. Alongside his academics, he embraced his passion for athletics, participating in both track events and football, the latter making him a team captain and shaping his future career path. This early commitment to sports earned Bernard-Converse high praise from scouts. According to 247Sports, he was the 88th best safety recruit and the 47th best player from Louisiana, a recognition that paved his way to a college football career with the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

With the Cowboys, Bernard-Converse’s talent was apparent from the very beginning. He accomplished 13 appearances as a true freshman, which included nine starts. His rookie year statistics were impressive with 59 tackles, the fifth-best on the team, two sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and an interception. The following year, Bernard-Converse intensified his performance by tallying 54 tackles, two of which resulted in a loss for the adversaries, five pass breakups, 1.5 sacks, and a single interception. By 2020, Bernard-Converse had become a starter, playing every match in the 11-game season. He achieved 32 tackles, establishing himself as the leader among Oklahoma State’s cornerbacks. The 2021 season marked a milestone in Bernard-Converse’s career. He played every single game in the 14-match season. On top of his superior defensive contribution, Bernard-Converse also added 51 tackles to his resume that year.

Bernard-Converse’s collegiate career saw another high in 2022 when he transferred to LSU. The change of scenery did not impact his performance. He maintained his consistency by featuring in nine of the 13 games he debuted with the new team. He was a noticeable presence on the field, adding 44 tackles to his tally, besides accomplishing three pass breakups and two interceptions.

The promising corner-back’s dream of playing professional football came true on his 23rd birthday. He was chosen in the sixth round (204th overall) of the 2023 NFL draft by the New York Jets. The start of his NFL career was, however, delayed when he was placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list at the beginning of the 2023 season. After being activated on October 24, 2023, Bernard-Converse made his debut against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11, appearing on seven special teams snaps.
