Currently a free agent, Blades Jr. has proven his resilience and determination as he played for the country’s top college institutions, setting a strong foundation for his professional sporting career.

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Blades Jr’s athletic journey began at the reputable St. Thomas Aquinas High School, known for its outstanding sports program. It was here that Blades Jr. began honing his football skills. Drawing from his football-loving family, Blades Jr. proceeded to demonstrate his prowess on the field, catching the eye of various scouts.

After turning down several offers, Blades Jr. found his home at the University of Miami, a respected institution known for its competitive college football. At Miami, he made significant progress in his first year of college football in 2018. Blades Jr. demonstrated noteworthy team spirit by playing mainly on special teams and recorded an impressive 13 tackles in all 13 games of his true freshman year.

In 2019, Blades Jr. truly began to shine in his sophomore year as he began to take on a more significant role. He displayed exceptional defensive skills, recording 36 tackles, 2 interceptions, and winning starting positions in 7 out of the 13 games he played.

His final year at the University of Miami saw him battling more than just opposing teams. Despite his health struggles with myocarditis at the end of the season in 2020, Blades Jr. proved his resilience, leading the way with 29 tackles and two interceptions.

In a significant career move, Blades Jr. announced his transfer to Duke University on December 12, 2022. This move marked a new chapter for Blades Jr., who was eager to play for the Duke Blue Devils and contribute to their reputation for breeding top athletes in the country.

Though his college years were marked by much success, Blades Jr’s professional career saw a bit of a rocky start. In May 2024, he finally got his breakthrough and signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. Unfortunately, his time with the Jets ended sooner than expected. He was waived by the team on August 27 of the same year.

His uncle, Brian Blades, made waves as a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, while another uncle, Bennie Blades, lit up the field as a safety for the Detroit Lions. Moreover, Blades Jr.’s cousin, H.B. Blades, enjoyed a four-season stint with the Washington Redskins, continuing the family’s legacy in the NFL.
